Weis doesn't talk about future to media

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Charlie Weis tried to set the example for his Notre Dame players Tuesday by refusing to talk about his future or any other distractions at his weekly news conference, focusing instead on Stanford.

The coach said he answered all the big-picture questions Sunday. That's when he said he couldn't argue if Notre Dame officials decided to fire him with a 6-5 record.

Overall, Weis has a 35-26 in five seasons at his alma mater. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick has said he will decide Weis' future after the game on Saturday.

Clausen suffers black eye after punch

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen is nursing a black eye after getting punched outside a South Bend bar early Sunday morning.

According to a university source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter, Clausen was at C.J.'s Pub about 2 a.m. with his family and girlfriend in the wake of Notre Dame's double overtime loss to Connecticut. Read More...

Cincinnati's Kelly unfazed by job rumors

CINCINNATI (AP) Coach Brian Kelly is so accustomed to hearing rumors about him leaving Cincinnati that he pays little attention to what he calls the "silly season" of college football.

Kansas player: Mangino inspirational

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) A Kansas football player says coach Mark Mangino has been an inspiration in the way he has handled himself while the university investigates his alleged mistreatment of players.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) Nebraska's star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (en-DOM'-uh-ken soo) has pleaded guilty to negligent driving and paid a $60 fine.

Tennessee reinstates S Jackson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin says freshman safety Janzen Jackson will be allowed to return to team activities immediately and will start Saturday at Kentucky.
